John Gitonga

Growing up

The Late John Gitonga Kahia was born on 12th March 1967 to the late Earnest Kahia Nguriathi and the late Jane Nyambura Kahia. He was a brother to Rose Nyambura Muchoki, the Late Stanley Mwangi, James Irungu and Mercy Wangari.

Education

The Late John Gitonga Kahia started School at Kianderi Primary School In 1973 where he sat for his KCPE in 1980. He joined Gatchanjiru Secondary School in 1981 where he sat for his KCSE in 1984

Christian Life

The Late John Gitonga Kahia was born to Christian parents congregating at the Anglican Churches of Kenya and subsequently converted to Catholic faith and was baptized, received first Holy Communion and confirmed in 2014. He remained an active member of the catholic faith and later Joined the Catholic Men Association (CMA). Until his Demise he was the Treasurer of St Augustine Small Christian Community (SCC) at St Tobias Mukengesya Catholic Church in Malaa.

Work Life

After completing his Education, he joined Welding and Hardware Supplies company in Nairobi where he worked until his demise. He was hardworking and committed to his work.

Family

The late John Gitonga married the Love of his Life Mary Muthoni Wachira in the year 2007 and later they solemnized their marriage in church on 5th September 2014. They were blessed with two sons namely Kevin Kahia and Mark Wacira. He was a son in-law to the Late Harrison Wachira and Jennifer Wanjiru Wachira.

Sickness

The late John Gitonga had enjoyed good health until the year 2003 when he was diagnosed with a heart condition which was being managed through medication. On Saturday 28th September 2024, he was taken ill and was rushed to Bahati Hospital in Joska and on 29th September 2024 he was referred to Kenyatta National Hospital where he was being treated until his demise on 13th October 2024 at 1PM. He passed on at the age of 57 Years. He is survived by his wife and two children. As a Family, we thank God for the 57 Years he gave John Gitonga to us.
